Interesting facts

The Strychnos spinosa tree (Natal orange or ‘mutamba’ in the Shona language of Zimbabwe), is a tree indigenous to tropical and subtropical Africa. It produces sweet-sour, yellow fruits, containing numerous hard brown seeds. The hard outer shells (as seen in the image below) are as tough as coconut shells and as such are used to make botanical jewellery such as the Gavastie Collection Matamba pendant and earring set.
